• Celebrating Callas Show

  • This ground-breaking show about the legendary Maria Callas debuted at the National Concert Hall, Dublin in 2011. The show has gone on to sell out 15 times in the NCH with a number of fantastic sopranos in the title role: Mairead Buicke, Clare Rutter, Regina Nathan and, most recently, Máire Flavin.  CALLAS is the most successful opera-themed show to be staged at the NCH in the last 10 years.
The latest performance of this incredibly moving show on the 17th September at the NCH was totally sold out. We were honoured to have the President of Ireland Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina in attendance. The show coincided with the 40th anniversary of the death of Maria Callas. Due to phenomenal demand we are delighted to announce an extra date on Sunday 22nd October. Stunning Irish soprano Máire Flavin takes the title role again. Regarded by many as the upcoming voice of her generation, Ms Flavin recently delighted NCH audiences with her glorious soprano voice at the New Year's Day concerts and her dramatic interpretation of Mimì in La Bohème for Opera Theatre Company was hailed as "a force of nature that swept through the isles" by the Sunday Times.

"The real discovery was Irish soprano Máire Flavin with a glittering upper register that suggests she may be the next singer to graduate to great things." (The Guardian)

"I saw Máire onstage in the Gaiety Theatre and I was struck by how much she resembled Maria Callas," says Niall Morris, the show's producer. "Her physical appearance, dramatic intensity and her powerful voice had the audience enthralled. I immediately knew she would be perfect to play the title role in CALLAS."

Ms Flavin is joined by the charismatic Irish baritone Gavan Ring and the brilliant UK tenor Alexander James Edwards, who thrilled NCH audiences as Luciano Pavarotti in the hit show Nessun Dorma.
